The ProGen Procedure
On the day of your treatment, you can expect to have your blood drawn, most likely from your arm. This small amount of blood is then placed into a small tube, which is then placed inside a Centrifuge. This spinning process takes about 10 minutes, and separates the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) out from other components of the blood.
The Platelet Rich Plasma is then injected using a needle into the areas of hair loss on the scalp. Since it can be difficult to numb the scalp, a combination of topical local anesthetic is applied to the scalp prior to your injection.
Maintenance & Procedure Timeline
Most patients will see results after 4-5 Treatments, spaced 1 month apart for optimal results. Typically, most patients will require maintenance treatments in the future, typically around 8-12 months after the last procedure.
Generally, the downtime after the procedure is very minimal. You may experience general numbness or tingling over the scalp for 1-2 days after your procedure. Patients should avoid washing their hair for at least 24 hours after injections and also avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours.
